Introduction to the natural minor scale
Each major scale has a related minor scale that has its root on the sixth note. In the scale of C major: C D E F G A B C, the sixth note is A, therefore the natural minor scale will begin on A, and reads as follows: A B C D E F G A.
The natural minor scale may be modified to produce the harmonic and melodic minor scales. Minor scales add flavour to an arrangement. The popular natural minor scale patterns are listed here.
